Pioneers lose first two games on the road

The Portage Lake Pioneers played there first two games of the season on the road against the Marquette Mutineers and the Fox Cities Ice Dogs. Both games resulted in a loss, 2-11 and 4-8 in both outings.

A number of new faces were added to the team this season, getting their first chance to play Pioneers hockey. In a touch loss agains the Mutineers, the Pioneers were still able to find the back of the net a couple of times with goals from Charlie Turner and Chris Chegwidden. Rookie Mike Schwarz picked up his first ever goal as a Pioneer and was also able to get another against the Ice Dogs. Last season's top goal scorer Cody Sivonen netted the other two.

The team will look to resume play Friday December 21st against the Calumet Wolverines at the Calumet Colloseum, and the following day Saturday December 22nd at the Dee Stadium. The team is also looking to schedule an exhibition game or two before then so keep a look out for a posting on social media!
